Best Episode – Batman Live, it was painful getting their but listening to it just cracks me up.
Top 5 – Pixar 5
Feud – I was leaning towards Daniel vs Matt because you made me so mad. But I will go with Matt vs. Ben.
Movie Review – Why James Bond is Sci-Fi…basically the newest is in my brain.
Lack of Follow Through – Stan Lee Quote of the Week…please come back!
Time Loop – Episode 46: Interview with C.K. Kubasik
Write Ins
Worst Episode – Episode 52 Sci-Fi Feedback….because we started before we even knew where to start.
Akward Moment, I can think of some small ones….but none I can nominiate.
Funniest Moment – Matt not knowing if he should go up or down in the parking ramp.
Sci-Fi Movie of the Year, very different but Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers…since I have watched The Avengers 5 times now I will go with it.
TV-Show: Once Upon a Time
Topic that Should have been covered: Doctor Who…because it will upset Koby.
Top Episode: Darth Mickey
Top 5: Pixar Movies
Greatest Feud: Daniel and Matt James Bond. That was Awesome! I laghed so hard I almost drove my Astin Martin off the road.
Movie Review: Skyfall
Lack of Follow Through: Stan Lee
Time Loop: Dark Knight
Funniest Moment: Matt and Ben comparing notes on Catholisism/Protestantism. Seriously. The two of you took a subject that foolishly divides so many people and made it funny, informative, and totally engaging.
Shocking Sci-Fi News: This is similar to the old, “Who’s the best basketball player of all time,” question. Your answer must begin with, “You mean besides Michael Jordan.” Then you can go on to discuss all the other choices. In this case, the “Besides Michael Jordan” answer has to be the Disney/Star Wars announcement. Put me down as vote #374,281. You may now begin to discuss the runner’s up.
Sci-Fi Movie of the Year. Sorry Ben. Avengers.
Sci-Fi TV Show: Grimm
I do have to admit…he did make me pretty mad!

Write-In Votes:
15.) The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2012, But Didn’t
Doctor Who. It even made the cover of TV Guide recently from fan votes. If that doesn’t show that is has arrived, what does?
1.) Episode of the Year: “Episode 88: Darth Mickey – Disney Buys Lucasfilm” – Having Daniel as our resident Disney expert really makes this episode the one to beat. It got me actually looking forward to Episode VII, as well as taking my kids to Disney parks someday in the new Disney Star Wars era!

12.) Sci-Fi Movie of the Year – JOHN CARTER
13.) Sci-Fi TV Show of the Year – ONCE UPON A TIME
t
Oh, and DOCTOR WHO, for me too, as topic SFC should’ve covered. I would’ve voted for it as sci-fi show of the year, but ONCE UPON A TIME was a new show and gets lots of props for that (and DOCTOR WHO only had five episodes in 2012, so there’s that.)
“4.) History of Christianity Episode of the Year: Abstain. (Sorry, I haven’t listened to these!)”
That is a wise decision!

10.) Even though it wasn’t this year, during the history of christianity when Ben’s responses were all uhu, oh and wow.
11.) That Stan Lee is still alive.
12.) The Dark Knight Rises
13.) Doctor Who
14.) what’s a book?
15.) Ben’s return.
1.) Episode of the Year:
Although I enjoyed all of the episodes mentioned, Time Travel always gets me to listen a bit closer, so I’ll say “Episode 49: The Time Traveler Strife”.
2.) Top 5 of the Year:
“Episode 80: Top 5 Sci-Fi Visionaries”
3.) Greatest Feud of the Year:
“Episode 51: Superhero Talk – Daniel vs. Koby – Is Batman a Superhero?”
4.) History of Christianity Episode of the Year:
I can’t pick just one year, so I think “Episode 56: An Explanation for the History of Christianity” really is a catchy title that will pull folks into listening to all of the episodes.
5.) Movie Review Episode of the Year:
I vividly remember reading this series of books when I was in 10th grade, and
“Episode 82: John Carter, Savior of Mars” brought it all back. Great info!
6.) Lack of Follow-Through Award:
Write in vote, just for wanting annual LOST episodes. 🙂
7.) The Time Loop Episode of the Year:
“Episode 77: The Dark Knight On Trial” is one of the most memorable episodes of the Sci-Fi Christian podcast ever (and I’ve been listening since the beginning)!
Write-In Votes:
8.) Worst Episode of the Year – I can’t pick one.
9.) Awkward Moment of the Year – unknown.
10.) Funniest Moment of the Year – Matt being surprised upon hearing Ben explain he really is a Catholic.
11.) Most Shocking Sci-Fi News of 2012 – Good question. I don’t know.
12.) Sci-Fi Movie of the Year
“Prometheus”
13.) Sci-Fi TV Show of the Year
“FRiNGE”
14.) Sci-Fi Book of the Year – unknown
15.) The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2012, But Didn’t. More info on the lastic impact of LOST, and maybe more of a focus on Philip K Dick. Keep up the great work guys!
First, thanks to every one of you for doing the podcast. The release schedule is a little wonky but I enjoy the shows. Keep up the great work, guys!
1. Episode 79: The Sci-Fi Catholic – Ben’s conversion intrigues me. He clearly thought through the decision.
2. Episode 80: Top 5 Sci-Fi Visionaries
3. Episode 81: Sci-Fi Feud 2012 – Ben vs. Koby – “I want my spot on the show back.” – Please just throw them in a cage. Last man standing gets the spot. Film it and you’ll have YouTube gold.
4. Episode 59: The History of Christianity (Part 3) I didn’t really have a favorite so I used random.org
5. Episode 82: John Carter, Savior of Mars because Daniel is right about this movie.
6. Matt’s promise that he would have listeners on the show as guest hosts during 2012
7. Episode 77: The Dark Knight On Trial
8. Probably one of the Church History ones. Ben was particularly acerbic at times during those.
9. When Brian walked in during “The Sci-Fi Catholic”.
10. When Matt took the cinnamon challege. Oh wait, that didn’t happen.
11. Disney buys Lucas.
12. The Hobbit – I haven’t seen it but I’m sure it will exceed my expectations.
13. The Walking Dead
14. The All-Pro by Scott Sigler – it’s the only sci-fi book released this year that I’ve read.
15. Independent Christian Sci-Fi authors. I know a few of them and they’ve written great stuff!
1. The Hobbit, though I’m enjoying being a Catholic more than I’m anticipating enjoying the seemingly bloated Hobbit Trilogy
2. Top 5 Sci-Fi Visionaries (how did we only do three top 5’s this year?!? I’m blaming Koby)
3. Ben and Matt (Ben vs Koby wasn’t a feud; it was domination)
4. All sucked equally but in different ways! The later ones are entertaining in a car wreck sort of way
5. DKR was the only one I was present for but memories of being stuck in a car at 3am with Daniel, Matt and Koby do not earn it my vote, so I will choose none of the above
6. Of the options, Alan Moore for a repeat but the real lack of follow through award should go to having no Game of Thrones Season 2 video reviews. Seriously, we’ve gotten more comments/complaints on this than anything we’ve done
7. Lord of the Rings and I’m renaming this award “Episode Number Padding Episode of the Year” 😉
8. Koby
9. Walking into Batman Live and realizing that (A) we were the only grown men without children and (B) Koby had proved smarter than me by refraining from attending
10. Relistening to the History of Christianity shows and realizing how incredibly bad they are. Seriously people, don’t listen to them; they really, really, really suck
11. Peter Jackson announces The Hobbit will be a trilogy. This would also be a contender for worst sf news of the year
12. DKR though Cabin in the Woods is a close runner up
13. Game of Thrones. Blackwater was hands down the best episode of any tv show I’ve ever seen
14. Most of my reading this year was theological, so I’m cheating and picking The Separation by Christopher Priest. It wasn’t published this year but it’s the best sf book I read this year. Incredible read
15. Why the Avengers is terrible for the future of sci-fi movies. I did rant on this one a bit but it needs to be discussed in more depth!
1. Episode 4-Time Traveler Strife!
2. Top 5 Disney Movies
3. Daniel vs. Koby-Victory is mine!
4. meh.
5. DKR
6. Stan Lee Quote of the week-this guy is pure wisdom, we need this!!!
7.Dark Knight on Trial
8. Whenever Ben Participated…it was just hard to listen
9. Little Guy…no explanation needed
10. Little Guy…
11. ben converts close second is Lucas Films bought by Disney (Genius by the way)
12. Well i have seen this movie at midnight, bought it the actual second i saw it on dvd, and have watched it at least 10 times since then….AVENGERS!!!
13. Walking Dead, easy choice
14. i have no idea but i think Hunger Games was HUGE this year even though it was not 2012
15. The Horror genre
My sisters “Ace” and “Palindrome” as they are known here have gotten me to listen to the Sci-Fi Christian. I haven’t been able to listen to all of it, but I’ve listened to quite a bit, and it’s awesome. All the inside jokes and references I now understand.
Middle Earth 😀
1.) Episode of the Year:
Episode 94: The Hobbit – That’s What I’m Tolkien About
2.) Top 5 of the Year:
Episode 80: Top 5 Sci-Fi Visionaries
3.) Greatest Feud of the Year:
Ben vs. Matt – *refer to every episode that they are on together
4.) History of Christianity Episode of the Year:
Episode 64: The History of Christianity (Part 8)
The great commission, and, you know. It was finally over.
5.) Movie Review Episode of the Year:
Episode 76: The Dark Knight Rises – Instant Reaction
6.) Lack of Follow-Through Award:
Our promised Alan Moore episode
Although I do think that Stan Lee quote of the week could be an honerable mention/runner up.
7.) The Time Loop Episode of the Year:
Episode 46: Interview with C.K. Kubasik
Write-In Votes:
8.) Worst Episode of the Year
Episode 88 Darth Mickey – Disney Buys Lucasfilm
I was already unhappy about this, hearing more about it didn’t exactly help to ease the pain.
9.) Awkward Moment of the Year
36:07 in Episode 74 Dark Knight Rises Prophecies
Or 24:58 in Top 5 Visionaries where Ben declares his alliegences.
10.) Funniest Moment of the Year
Hardest catagory to narrow down to just one. Hmmm.
Top 5 Sci Fi Visionaries 32:49 , more Ben funnyness about the quality of the Sci-Fi Christian ever since his hiatus (it’s hilarious every time he does this), Matt gives God a runner up spot in his list of top 5 visionaries. xD
11.) Most Shocking Sci-Fi News of 2012
Hobbit as a trilogy, I didn’t think it would happen.
12.) Sci-Fi Movie of the Year
As of right now, Dark Knight Rises. I don’t count The Hobbit as Sci-Fi, and it isn’t out yet, otherwise that’d be my pick I’m sure.
15.) The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2012, But Didn’t
Ben vs. Koby – Retribution Rap Battle
On second thought, no. Although, a debate between Ben Matt and Koby would be interesting.
1) 6. Episode 94: The Hobbit – That’s What I’m Tolkien About. Tolkien has the best retcon ever.
2) 3. Episode 80: Top 5 Sci-Fi Visionaries
3) Sci-Fi feud 5. Ben vs. Matt, every episode they were on together this year.
4) 9. Episode #64: The History of Christianity (part 8) “Ben, how do you feel about the Great Commission?”
5) 3. Episode 76: The Dark Knight Rises – Instant Reaction.
6) Lack of follow through – 1. The Alan Moore episode.
7) Timeloop – 4. Episode 87: Cloning and the Transfer of Consciousness
8) Worst Episode, I can’t pick one. One of the non-topic episodes. I couldn’t sit through those.
9) Awkward Moment Ben telling Christopher Tolkien to die 🙁 that made me sad. Also there were a lot of awkward moments across the board, just lots of awkward.
10) Funniest moment: the first two minutes of Episode 74 Dark Knight Rises Prophecies, when Ben asking about why the title is announced at the beginning turns into a conversation about which senses you would give up first and then into you would never know if you were naked. Only with Ben & Matt.
11) Most shocking sci-fi news: Ben’s Haircut. I was honestly more shocked about him cutting off his ponytail than him converting to Catholicism. But I’ve seen the picture, and it’s not bad.
12) Movie of the Year: Dark Knight Rises.
13) Best show: Doctor Who
14) I didn’t read any sci-fi books that came out this year. But Dirge by Alan Dean Foster, because it is the best example of third-person omnipotent narrative I have ever read.
15) Topic that should have been covered but wasn’t: wow so many, an in-depth Firefly episode; a District 9 themes episode; the fact that this is the first year in fifty years that there has been no space-based sci-fi on television, the fall of science fiction in quality, quantity and popularity. And you need to revisit the whole clones thing again because there was nothing conclusive in either of those episodes.
Listener Nominated Category! sweetest moment of the year: Ben nominates Matt as a sci-fi visionary for inventing the Sci-fi Christian. I second Ben’s nomination, Thank you Matt. And thank God for inspiring you to invent it. It’s been a bit of a tough year with all the trouble from the rest of the cast, but thanks for keeping the Sci-Fi Christian alive! Hopefully it will continue for many years to come! 🙂
Follow up listener nominated category: biggest disappointment of the year: 17th Precinct not getting made into a series. It was really awesome. The one episode.
1.) Episode of the Year:
Episode 49: The Time Traveler Strife
2.) Top 5 of the Year:
Episode 41: Top 5 Disney Movies
3.) Greatest Feud of the Year: I Gotta go with this one. i am not much of a feud listener. sorry!
Ben vs. Matt – *refer to every episode that they are on together
4.) History of Christianity Episode of the Year:
hmm didn’t listen to these ones sorry matt!
5.) Movie Review Episode of the Year:
Episode 55: The Avengers – Instant Reaction
6.) Lack of Follow-Through Award:
Matt’s promise that he would have listeners on the show as guest hosts during 2012
7.) The Time Loop Episode of the Year:
Episode 46: Interview with C.K. Kubasik. by far the most exciting!
Sci-Fi Movie of the Year: avengers!!
Sci-Fi TV Show of the Year: doctor who!!
Sci-Fi Book of the Year: th long earth by terr prachett. though i am only part way through
The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2012, But Didn’t: doctor who! why wouldn’t you??
They can’t really talk about Doctor Who because neither of them have seen it. And I think Ben would need a guided introduction.
Hey…there’s more than two at this party, and somebody has dropped some old school Who on the show!
I know, but we need someone to debate it with you. Plus making more whovians is always a good thing.
That won’t be a problem. The Twilight fan hates Doctor Who. And I’m lobbying for a guest to be brought in since Matt is light in the subject.
That would be awesome. I hope we can have that episode next year during the big 50th anniversary celebration.
There will be no guest host. We will do a Dr. Who episode after I start watching the show and catch all the way up. 🙂
Yes! I reccomend you start with season 5 and then watch forward, and then go back to cover anything else that needs watching.
Episode of the Year: Episode 83: Batman Live – Instant Reaction
Top 5 of the Year: Episode 42: Top 5 Pixar Movies
Greatest Feud of the Year: Episode 81: Sci-Fi Feud 2012 – Ben vs. Koby – “I want my spot on the show back.”

Most Shocking Sci-Fi News of 2012: Disney Buying Lucas Films
Sci-Fi Movie of the Year: The Avengers
The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2012, But Didn’t: Booth at the End Season 2
