In reference to your “Take that science” story for this week: Life on Europa is one of the primary plot points of Arthor C. Clark’s Space Odyssey series. It’s not really mentioned specifically in 2001 that I recall but the books 2010, 2061 and 3001 use it as a primary plot point. In 2010 a Chinese spacecraft lands on Europa to harvest water and is attacked by a giant creature resembling kelp that comes out of the water after being attracted by the light on thier ship. In 2061 and 3001, after Jupiter is transformed by the monoliths into the new star Lucifer, a huge monolith they call the great wall is used to aid in the evolution of the aquatic creatures on Europa. I just finished the final book 3001 yesterday, it’s funny that the first podcast you put out after I finished the books references something so specific to the plot. Obviously Arthur C. Clark has been aware of the possibility for life on Europa for sometime.
