The distinction between a Sherlock story and a Poirot story: Christie’s are “closed room mysteries”. The suspects are limited and the reader gets all the clues, so you could figure out the mystery. That’s impossible for most Sherlock stories because you don’t have his specialized knowledge and the pool of suspects is not limited.
