Green Lantern 76 is from 1970, and was the start of the socially conscious Green Lantern-Green Arrow run, where the two heroes took a road trip across America, GL being cast as the “establishment type” who has to have his eyes opened by GA to the plight of the common man. More details here: http://dccomics40.blogspot.com/2010/02/green-lantern-76.html. It’s a fairly significant comics milestone but, I agree, the politician’s use of it is — well, labored, at best!

My personal feel on this question of “which is easier to follow” is not who has the less complicated chronologies and multivrses, but which characters do I like better? That’s more a question of taste. I come down on the DC side, others on the Marvel side, and it’s all good!
