I haven’t listened to Fat Man on Batman but I do watch “Comic Book Men” on AMC, with which he is involved. Any of you watch that? It’s not great television, but it’s fun and mindless and all about comic book and geek culture. Recommended.

Re: the Dark Horse comic… Daniel said “Star Trek” first, until we have the Special Edition of this episode, in which Matt will say it first. Then, when the SFC Blu-Ray is released, they’ll say it at the same time. 🙂

DON’T read “Darth Plageis”! It is NOT a good jumping on point. I know because i tried. If you have never read EU before (as I had not), you will be totally lost (as I was). Also, it is very slowly paced and far more concerned with tying EU trivia together (it seemed to me) then telling an interesting story. At least check it out from a library – don’t spend your money on it.

I want to read the CSL Space Trilogy as well!

I would say let’s do a Space Trilogy read along…..but then someone might accuse us of copying!

    I love editing!

I do watch Comic Book Men, and my wife who usually won’t watch shows like that is willing to watch also. I think I like the fact that is Pawn Stars with items I actually care about.

Here is the problem. What book do you recommend to Matt Anderson.
He won’t commit to reading a trilogy.
He will probably be lost in books that have no hooks to the movies.
It can’t be something that is no longer considered canon, like Order 66.
And it should have somewhat of an Epic feel to it?

I know, I didn’t play fair, because I don’t have a substitute EU novel to recommend. I’m not really up on EU. I just know I tried to start with Darth Plageus and found it really rough going.

I did read “Crosscurrent” and liked it well enough, but it’s got no real hooks to the films.

I have only given 5s in goodreads to 3 sets of Star Wars books.

Order 66 – How much it can be considered canon is now majorly in doubt.
The First Darth Bane book, which is part of a trilogy.
All three books in the Thrawn trilogy.

In my ideal world I would vote for Thrawn.

It just hit me that it will be long enough before Matt picks this book up that Star Wars Scoundrals might be a good choice.

  4. Next month we’re reading Out of the Silent Planet! You guys should totally read along with us!

(If we ever figure out the feud thing, that is.)
