Marvel has a lot going on these days: the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television series, Thor: The Dark World hitting theaters November 8th, and a slew of other movies in the works. Captain America: The Winter Soldier doesn’t come out until April of 2014, but the first trailer has surfaced online and it looks to be a much darker tone than the first film. Check out the trailer below:

Personally, I think this looks excellent. You can never tell with trailers these days, but it sure seems promising. Am I the only one that can’t wait to see Steve Rogers beat the crap out of, like, ten dudes in an elevator? What do you all think?

Captain America: The Winter Soldier directed by Anthony and Joe Russo stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, Sebastian Stan and Frank Grillo.

  1. Eh, whatever. I don’t care, anymore. (I hate it when makeup and lighting adds up to look like a video game rendering of a character’s close up.) I find these movies unnatural and childish. But the violence level is so intense, its intellect can’t match with the younger comic book generations unless they’re the kids whose parents don’t enforce PG-13.

I remember incredible frustration as a younger Spider-Man fan, not being able to see Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, or Spider-Man 3 as a die-hard fan of the silver age Stan Lee/Steve Ditko comic book, due to the PG-13. But PG-13 is more excepted now, and personally, its range of allowance for bloodless violence provides wider spread desensitization.

Wes, you took the words right out of my mouth. I’m sure I’ll still see some of the movies for the podcast, but between the points you made and the ultra disappointing Agents of SHIELD, I think I’m pretty much done with the MCU
