Wow, there were some interesting surprises in the first 10 of the Top 100.
I’ve only seen Speed Racer once. I don’t remember hating it, but I’d have no desire to ever watch it again either. It’s hard to believe it beat out enough better movies to squeak into the Top 100.
I’ve probably seen Ghostbusters more in bits & pieces than all the way through. Unlike most people, I think it’s good but not stellar, and I might like it’s sequel as much or even better.
It’s weird to see The Hobbit trilogy lumped together into one ranking considering how much better the first movie is compared to the next two. I think An Unexpected Journey could have ranked better on its own. On a ballot of 30 or 40 slots, I would have voted it for it myself.
I didn’t vote for any Pixar movies, despite how great many of them are. I wasn’t sure the definition of sci-fi and fantasy was that broad for the purpose of voting, and Wall-E, the most science fictiony Pixar movie, didn’t quite make it into my own top 20. Considering Toy Story 1 made it into the Top 100, I would love to have seen the very best Pixar movie, Toy Story 3, in the list even more.
I haven’t seen the other movies from the first 10, but I assume the rest of the list will continue to have a lot of variety if classics, horror movies, and anime are all mixed in too.
I look forward to the rest of the countdown. 🙂
