An All-Star Lineup

October 10, 2011

ABC has just ordered a pilot for a new science fiction series. According to Deadline:

It follows a newly-elected President and his top secret “Executive Committee” (a.k.a. Ex-Comm), the government’s covert team of America’s most elite minds who investigate and protect our nation from the strangest occurrences and “conspiracy theory truths” out there. Tonally, the show aims to be fun but grounded, with everything in it operating within the realm of possibility.

Well, the premise of the show sounds somewhat interesting; however, the fact that the Showrunners involved are all very successful in their own right, could be a saving grace for the pilot. Here is a list of who is involved:

Seth Green ( actor on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Creator of Robot Chicken

Michael Dougherty (Writer of X-Men 2, Superman Returns)

Roberto Orci (Producer of Fringe, Star Trek)

Jon Favreau (Director and Producer of Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens)

Quite a line-up of behind the scenes talent. The premise sounds kind of like a blend between “The X-Files” and “Alphas,” and doesn’t sound incredibly exciting to me at first blush; however, hard to argue with the major networks taking notice of the genre, so I will likely give it a try. Thanks for the heads-up!

    Seth Green!!!!

  3. Michael – I will definitely be checking out this new show. I agree with you that the premise does not sound too fascinating, however, I do believe that the people involved behind the scenes have the potential to create a wonderful project.

    7- 18 Ace – My sentiments exactly!

  4. I’m going to check it out, Seth Green alone is enough for me. Also, a major network going after genre fiction is a good thing. I don’t think I can take another medical drama.
