    • I didn’t actually read the categories or the entries, but upon listening to the episode 211, I have to change my game of the year vote to The Last of Us.
      That game is amazing.

      • Wow. Holy crap I didn’t read any of the categories or entries. Thinking back to it I have to confess that I just copy-pasted Aaron Reini’s and changed some things, the entire process taking no more 20 seconds.

But as the SFC contributor equivalent of that one guy at your party that no one really knows who just kind of eats your food and then leaves, I feel it’s time for me to step up my game and actually submit accurate votes.

Ignore everything else, still catching up and the most informed decisions I can currently make are as follows:

        1. Episode of the Year
        -Episode 176: Spelunking with Socrates

        6. Time Loop Episode of the Year
-Episode 201: The SFC Time Loop – Hauntings and Holiness

        7. Lack of Follow-Through Award

Wait, you’re saying you didn’t put any thought into your initial ballot?!? I never would have guessed

  3. 1. Episode of the Year
-Episode 176: Spelunking with Socrates (I felt smarter, just listening)
Darn, lost world of Genesis was super as well. Honorable Mention. (and tiebreaker?)

    2. Top 5 of the Year
-Episode 108: Top 5 Sci-Fi Geniuses Gone Bad

    3. Movie Review Episode of the Year
    -Episode 207: Revisiting the Rocketeer

    4. Funniest Episode of the Year
-Episode 204: The LOST-Off: A LOST Trivia Challenge (All choices were funny, but I nearly drove off the road when Ben started getting nauseous.)

    5. Guest of the Year
-Michael D. Sellers: Episode 119: Interview with Michael D. Sellers, Author of John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood

    6. Time Loop Episode of the Year
-Episode 178: The SFC Timeloop – Bigfoot, Dinos, and Dragons
    (Wasn’t Kobe in this one?)

-Ben Affleck announced as the next Batman

    9. Biggest Sci-Fi Disappointment of 2013
    -The film, Iron Man 3

    10. Sci-Fi Movie of the Year
    -Gravity (Yay! Hooray!)

    11. Sci-Fi TV Show of the Year
    -Breaking Bad

    12. Sci-Fi Book of the Year
Note to self: Stop checking grantland.com every night and start reading BOOKS.

    13. Sci-Fi Video Game of the Year
-Injustice: God Among Us: Episode 165: Injustice: Gods Among Us
Downloaded the demo, then found out it doesn’t play on my 1st-gen iPad. So it’s sitting on the Blond’s iPad, unplayed. Being an early adopter is harsh. (So I based this on Ben and Matt’s review)

    14. The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2013, But Didn’t
-Gravity Movie Review (Glad I didn’t have to vote for the nomination I suggested. That was terrible.)

    15. Video of the Year
-Trivia Challenge Review: Deep Space Nine: (Man, this one was close with DKR, but you gotta love that pipe! More than Ben’s bare midriff.)

  4. After listening to the latest episode, I’d like to change my Lack of Follow-Through vote to the SFC Network stopping the Bible Trivia Podcast. I really liked those! (Or that one?)

  5. 1. Episode of the Year

  8. 3. Movie Review Episode of the Year
-Episode 141: G.I. Joe: Retaliation Movie Review
Best episode ever…of all time…so so so so good.

    5. Guest of the Year
-Michael D. Sellers: Episode 119: Interview with Michael D. Sellers, Author of John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood

  9. 1. EP116 The Fandom Menace

    2. EP108 Geniuses Gone Bad

    3. EP151 Iron Man 3 (Thoughtful criticism of fannish films seems to have disappeared from the mainstream, This episode filled the void admirably.)

    4. EP187 Heroes Rant!

    5. Sellers

    6. EP178 Bigfoot, Dinos and Dragons

    7. Alan Moore (I don’t even know who he is and am waiting for you guys to tell me.)

    8. Affeck, I guess.

    9. Lucas Arts ( Lucas Arts had a chance of producing something interesting. I can’t say the same for the other nominees,)

    10. no award (I don’t think speculative fiction on film has ever been worse than right now. Hopefully the prohibitive costs attached to genre films fall to a point where new voices and fresh perspectives can be heard. It is sad because film lovers who look outside of Hollywood have never been more richly rewarded, but Hollywood seems to have a firm grip on genre movies and the results are pathetic.)

11.no award (I still need to see Breaking Bad,)

    12. no award ( I read a slew of books this year, including a couple by Gaiman and Simmons, but none of the nominees).

    13. no award

    14. Top Five, Non-stereotypical Female Sci-fi Characters (This might spur some more book talk, so I voted for this.)

    15. The Dark Knight Returns review

  10. Palindrome Dec 20, 2013

Episode of the Year: Ep.189: Heaven on Earth

Top Five: Ep.127 Things We’re Not into but Wish We Were

Movie Review Episode: Erm, can I vote the Heroes rants here?

Funniest Episode: Definitely the Heroes Rant. But the funniest moment this year was the answer to the sleeping bag question.

Best Guest Host: Desiree! She was so cute! But if I can vote for two I also want to vote for Wayne.

Time Loop: The Existance of Aliens.

Lack of Follow Through: Our Promised Alan Moore episode.

Most Shocking Scifi News: None of those were surprising to me, I’m going to go with Hannibal’s renewal for a second season. Bryan Fuller has the worst luck. I highly doubt that it will make it past three seasons, especially on a network like NBC. It was suggested by fans that if it was dropped by NBC it should have been picked up by the Food Network instead.

Biggest Dissapointment: Star Trek Into Darkness. I wasn’t disappointed so much as extremely irked. I wanted to punch that movie while watching it.

Sci-Fi Movie of the Year: Favorite: Pacific Rim (not a good movie, but a fantastic time), Best: The World’s End.

Sci-Fi TV Show of the Year: I’m going to have to go with Hannibal. If Breaking Bad counts as sci-fi then so does Hannibal. Besides, the mental disorders the two main characters have are fictionalized versions of actual mental disorders, so it’s supposal/fictional science. But the show I newly discovered and enjoyed the most this year was Supernatural.

Sci-Fi Book of the Year: I didn’t read any books that came out this year. But my vote goes to Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Any book that significantly changes your expectations of storytelling and story-structure is worthwhile IMHO, even if it takes forever to get there.

Sci-Fi Video Game of the Year: Minesweeper!

The Topic That The Sci-Fi Christian Should Have Covered In 2013, But Didn’t: Top Five, Non-stereotypical Female Sci-fi Characters. This would be an interesting episode.

Video of the Year: Man of Steel Review. because when Matt starts to reveal his superman shirt Ben goes “Uh oh, he’s taking off his clothes. I’m gonna put a dollar bill in your…” and then he actually starts to pull out some money. Too funny. Runner up: Chronicles of Narnia book review. Ellie is so cute!
